Your regular GP may refer you to the Respiratory Clinic for a variety of reasons. For example, they may be trying to reduce the risk of infection to other patients, they may not have sufficient PPE to safely conduct an examination, or the individual GP may be more vulnerable to a significant COVID-19 infection. Whatever the reason, we are here to help.
With your consent, a letter will be sent to your usual GP outlining your assessment and management.
Test results which are negative will be communicated to you via text or phonecall.
In the case there is a positive result such as influenza, COVID-19, whooping cough or other respiratory viruses, you will be called by one of the Respiratory Clinic GPs and also by the Department of Health.
Your usual GP will also be notified of your results.
Expect to be notified of results within 48 hours from time of testing.
If you are diagnosed with a positive test result for COVID-19, we will inform you as soon as possible and will also notify your GP if you consent. The Deparment of Health will also contact you for contact tracing
If testing was performed by us, and your result is negative, you will be notified via a text message or phone call to the mobile number you provided at registration.
